Dance Place Alan M. Kriegsman Residency

GMPP held a week long residency at Dance Place with three dancers, a videographer, dramaturg, writer/hip hop artist, and my mom. Field trips to the National Arboretum and the National Museum of African American History and Culture connected us to nature and legacy. Improvisations emphasized the role of music and accessing our voices. We also invited a group of local Black dancers to join us during the residency.

Part of the process includes the opportunity for participants to offer feedback and reflect on their experiences. Feedback is then incorporated into subsequent exercises and experiments.

Videography and photography by David Dowling (unless noted)
